SOLVITUR AMBULANDO
I was trying to untangle the knot
and dread
of loneliness,
when I locked on to you.
Hooked on the mystery
of you,
I kept dancing
after the music stopped.
When I bought you a ring,
you said: “Maybe,
if you come to Australia.”
I walked the stony roads of the world.
In Melbourne,
you said you had doubts.
So I turned around and began
walking back.
And at last,
you consented.
We laughed and cried
about how,
when you said no, or maybe,
it really meant yes.
